ADSSI Limited and Charlestown Caring Group have announced an alliance to improve and grow high-quality aged and disability home care services across the Hunter region of New South Wales.
The merger, which will come into effect on 1 January next year, presents numerous opportunities to enhance and expand services throughout the region, say the two organisations.
Charlestown Caring Group is the latest to join ADSSI’s family of brands, which includes ADSSI In-home Support, Beresfield Community Care, Dungog & District Neighbourcare, and Maitland Community Care Services.
To remain committed to client and community continuity however, Charlestown Caring Group will retain its trading name and brand identity.

ADSSI Limited chief exexcutive officer Jenni Allan told Australian Ageing Agenda that ADSSI welcomed merger opportunities that “align with our mission” of “expanding our service footprint” and working with local organisations who have “similar values” in regard to the delivery of quality care to communities.
“Our current priority is effectively transitioning Charlestown Caring Group staff and clients into the ADSSI family to ensure the continued delivery of quality supports for existing and future clients,” Ms Allan told AAA.
“We are focused on successfully implementing this strategic alliance with CCG and strengthening our services across the Central Coast and Hunter regions,” said Ms Allen, who is set to retire following the company’s annual general meeting on 26 November this year.
Charlestown Caring Group chair Janice Knowles said teaming up with ADSSI was an exciting step for for the group.
“This merger will provide us with additional resources and expertise while allowing us to maintain our local identity and continue serving our community with the same dedication and care we’ve always provided,” Ms Knowles said.
Key points of the merger include:
- continuation of high-quality services and focus on client support
- implementation of CCG’s staff and internal processes into ADSSI’s operations
- continuous support for staff and volunteers
- maintaining community engagement and local connections
- no interruptions to current services or day-to-day operations
When considering ADSSI’s strategy in response to the upcoming Aged Care Act and reforms, Ms Allan said the approach would centre on education, preparation and adaptability.
“We are committed to ensuring that the broader ADSSI organisation, including [Charlestown Caring Group], is well-informed and fully prepared to navigate these changes while maintaining our high standards of care and maximising opportunities for expansion,” Ms Allan told AAA.
ADSSI Limited is a $40 million not-for-profit business that provides home and community services and employs hundreds of local staff throughout their sites in the Hunter region.
It acquired Beresfield Community Care in 2020 and Dungog & District Neighbourcare in 2021.
