Stockland opens Clubhouse at Sydney vertical village
An in-door swimming pool, health club, art studio, bar and billiards room at the Cardinal Freeman clubhouse.
Stockland has opened the high-end health and social clubhouse for residents and their guests at its $180 million vertical retirement village development in Sydney’s inner-west.
Pitched as the centrepiece of The Residences, Cardinal Freeman village, the 1,350 square metre clubhouse includes an indoor swimming pool and spa, health club, art studio, garden patio, piano lounge, bar and billiards room.
The village in Ashfield, 10 kilometres from Sydney’s CBD, offers premium apartments and is located next to Opal Aged Care’s 133-bed facility, also called Cardinal Freeman.
More than 100 residents have already move into the village, which when completed will include seven boutique buildings featuring 240 one, two and three bedroom apartments. Stage three, which includes 106 apartments over three buildings, is set for completion by mid-2019.
Anglican Care picks up an independent facility in Bulahdelah and opens Toronto home
Anglican Care has recently opened its $39 million 147-bed facility Kilpatrick Court in Toronto.
NSW provider Anglican Care has acquired Great Lakes Aged Care, a standalone 57-bed facility with six self-care villas in Bulahdelah.
The independently owned facility sought out a larger organisation to acquire its operations to ensure the availability of contemporary aged care services in the Bulahdelah community into the future, said GLAC chairman John Ireland.
The acquisition is set to takes place on 1 July 2017.
Anglican recently opened its $39 million 147-bed facility Kilpatrick Court facility in Toronto and commenced planning retirement living villas for the adjoining site as part of stage two of the development.
St Catherine’s residents move in to new Bathurst facility
Residents settling into their new facility at Catholic Healthcare’s St Catherine’s in Bathurst.
Residents from two of Catholic Healthcare’s Bathurst residential aged care services have moved into the providers’ recently opened St Catherine’s campus.
St Vincent’s Residential Aged Care and St Catherine’s Aged Care and Catholic Community Services have merged as part of stage one of the new Bathurst development.
The integrated campus will include a 130-room aged care facility, a home and community care service and local healthcare services when all stages of construction are completed mid-year.
In addition to multiple dining and living areas, the facility includes a cafe, hair salon, library, wellness centre and secure outdoor walking areas and courtyards.
Australian Unity opens Glen Waverley facility

Australian Unity has opened the Campbell Place Residential Community, providing both assisted and independent living options, in Glen Waverley.
Named after long-serving executive Murray Campbell, the community includes 102 aged care beds, 54 retirement apartments, a gym, library, hair and beauty salon and gardens.
It is located opposite a train station and near a shopping and entertainment precinct.
Australian Unity independent and assisted living CEO Derek McMillan said co-locating the retirement community and aged care facility potentially made it easier for couples to stay together and seek additional services.
