Jewish Care’s St Kilda Road Senior Living Precinct gets underway
Jewish Care Victoria’s $85 million St Kilda Rd Senior Living Precinct will feature 156 aged care beds over seven levels.
Jewish Care Victoria has approved its $85 million St Kilda Road senior living precinct and awarded the construction contract to Watpac.
Stage one of the two stage project features a new nine-storey aged care and community services precinct accommodating 156 residential aged care beds over seven levels.
The additional two levels will offer community, health and medical services, a synagogue, gallery and retail spaces.
Construction will commence this month and is expected to be completed mid-2019.
Two independent living developments underway for older Victorians in need
The Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria is investing $26 million into two new developments to address its long waiting lists for senior housing
Housing and care provider the Old Colonists’ Association of Victoria has announced two new developments worth $26 million to address its long waiting lists and provide accommodation for older Victorians in need.
The first is an $11.4 million investment at the heritage-listed Rushall Park village that will result in 35 single and double units within a three-story development being built.
The second is a $14.9 million investment at its Leith Park retirement village that will see an additional 46 state of the art independent living units bringing the total number of units on the site to 140.
OCAV said the developments would make significant inroads to its waiting times, which included 583 people for Rushall Park equating to six years, and 900 older Victorians overall.
MGS Architects have been engaged by OCAV to oversee both developments, which will begin soon.
Benetas begins works on $27 million aged care facility in Heidelberg

Construction is underway at Victorian aged care provider Benetas’ $27 million aged care home in Heidelberg.
The design includes apartment-style living where fewer residents share smaller and more private areas.
The facility will also feature a concierge reception, café, wellness centre and cinema rooms.
The new development is on track to welcome 103 new residents in late 2018, the provider said.
WA community care duo Home Help Local and Rise have merged
Perth’s Rise Community Network has announced a recent merger with Home Help Local, which provides aged care services in Armadale and Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
The merger gives Rise, a provider of aged, disability, mental health and youth services, a presence in the Armadale area and allows them to offer people more choice in aged care services, said CEO Justine Colyer.
“HHL provide aged care services that are very similar to Rise, but also ones that are new, such as meal delivery. They are particularly well known for their excellent engagement with and programs for older Aboriginal citizens,” she said.
The merger took effect on 1 April.
