Baptcare recently opened its Brookview Community, a new 90-bed residential aged care home in Westmeadows.

The facility includes several shared areas such as an outdoor terrace with views over Broadmeadows Valley Park, courtyard garden and indoor walkways.

The $160 million broader development of the Westmeadows site also includes 110 new social housing homes, 34 independent living units for older residents co-located with the aged care facility, and more than 200 new private homes for sale.

Work has commenced on the redevelopment of Uniting’s Lakeview Shellharbour which will triple the site’s occupancy to 78 new independent living units.

The development of one, two or three bedroom units will include a clubroom and activity room, health consulting rooms, outdoor community and BBQ area, and landscaped gardens.

The provider said all units will comply with universal design standards and will allow for the easy provision of in-home community care.

The main construction work is expected to be completed in early 2019.

TriCare has opened a new $22 million wing of its Stafford Lakes Aged Care Residence on Brisbane’s north side.

The purpose built 73-bed extension incorporates a focus on high quality care and the latest in clinical technology, the provider said.

The new wing offers spacious luxury ensuite accommodation, German designed and built automated bed recliners, wall-mounted flat screen TVs with Foxtel and Wi-Fi.

TriCare said it has committed $100 million to new developments in the Queensland and Victorian aged care markets.

The two-story leisure centre will house a library, gym, pool, fitness centre, club room, and multi-functional rooms.

The landscaped areas, which will include a community pavilion, and sound and light gardens, will provide universal access to residents, the provider said.

Construction is likely to begin in June 2019 and will be staged over two years.

The leisure centre is part of the provider’s 2035 master plan which includes a new 124-suite residential facility.
